About William R. Kurtz

Bill currently serves as the CEO of DSST Public Schools, a charter school management organization that is opening five secondary schools in Denver serving 4,000 students in the next five years. Bill was the Founding Head of School of the Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST), a secondary school that is the flagship school of DSST Public Schools.  The school has become an exemplar for high school reform and a leader in STEM education nationwide. The combination of the school's highly significant year-to-year student learning growth,  extraordinarily diverse student population, innovative school culture, and 100% college acceptance rate for its graduates has made DSST a change agent for local public schools and a destination for high school reformers from all over the country.   Bill was named one of 25 champions of public education in Denver over the last 25 years in 2008 by the Public Education Business Coalition.  He currently serves on the Advisory Council of the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education MAT program.

Prior to joining DSST, Bill served as Principal of Link Community School, an independent middle school located in Newark, New Jersey.  He has also served as an Assistant Principal at Holy Cross School in the South Bronx, NY and worked as an investment banker at JP Chase in New York City.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University with a B.A. in political science and received the senior prize for the best political science thesis.  In 1998, he earned an M.A. from Columbia University’s Teachers College in educational administration and leadership.

About the Event

HP, Intel, and our partners have joined forces with Tech & Learning to bring you the new 2010 HP & Intel Digital Learning Event Series.

These unique, interactive forums are one-day events held throughout the United States. Each Digital Learning Event is an immersive experience that provides K-12 decision-makers with state-of-the-art technology solutions delivered in hands-on learning environments.

For the Teaching and Learning Track, sessions were hosted in Math, Science, Language Arts and Professional Development. This unique classroom environment let attendees be students for the day and experience compelling standards-based learning moments through seamless technology and curriculum integration.

For the Technology Track, IT decision-makers attended to learn more about cloud computing solutions, wired and wireless networking, and asset and data security for district infrastructures. They had an elective time slot to attend one of the Teaching and Learning sessions.

At these Digital Learning Events, attendees learned how technology-rich environments enrich students’ learning experiences, change the way teachers engage their classes, and help them build sustainable technology programs.
