HP, Intel, and their partners  joined forces with Tech & Learning to bring you the new 2009 Digital Learning Environment event in Boston. This unique interactive forum was a one-day event held throughout the United States.

This Digital Learning Environment event was an immersion experience that provided K-12 decision-makers with state-of-the-art technology solutions delivered in hands-on lab environments. Divided by curriculum area, the lab environments were part of this unique forum where attendees were invited to be students for the day and experience authentic and compelling standards-based learning moments. They learned how technology-rich learning environments enrich students’ learning experiences and help them achieve.

Roger F. Harris, Ph.D

Superintendent, Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Board of Trustees
The Boston Renaissance Charter Public School

Dr. Roger F. Harris Dr. Roger F. Harris has devoted 34 years working with youth in Boston’s public schools.  He presently serves as the Superintendent, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Trustees for the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School, the largest charter school in the city of Boston. He is the former Principal of the two-time National Blue Ribbon Award winning Timilty Middle School. He is co-founder of the award-winning Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, founder and President of Urban School Specialists, LLC, and Executive Producer of “It Takes a Village,” an educational video series aired on the Boston Neighborhood Network’s cable channel. Dr. Harris has worked in traditional Boston public high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools as a classroom teacher, administrator, athletic coach, and mentor, earning national and international recognition as an outstanding urban educator. Dr. Harris has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Boston College’s Lynch School of Education, Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts and the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

His success with urban schools extends beyond our shores and has attracted the attention of educators in Sweden, where he has become a frequently invited speaker addressing issues related to 1. Motivating and Successfully Educating Urban Students. 2. Building Effective Educational Teacher Teams 3. Establishing Successful School-Business/Community Partnerships and 4. Developing Strong Home & School Relationships. Dr. Harris has also presented “Charter Schools in America” at the annual International Schools Connection (ISC) conference held in Madrid, Spain.

He has served for over ten years as a mentor principal to the Harvard Principal Certification Pattern at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and has been the recipient of numerous civic and community awards, including the 2000 United States Department of Education’s John Stanford Education Heroes Award, the 2001 Massachusetts Elementary Principals Association’s Principal of the Year Award, and the 2001 U. S. Department of Education’s National Distinguished Principal Award. Dr. Harris sits on a number of local Boards and has recently been selected and joined the Camp Coca Cola Foundation’s National Advisory Board.

Ms. Lisa K. Radden

Lisa Radden

Ms. Lisa Radden is the Director of Instructional Technology at the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School. She joined the Renaissance School in August of 2008. She has an academic background in computer-science and educational technologies from the University of Notre Dame and Harvard University, respectively. She has over ten years of web development industry experience, and six years of teaching experience as an IT Specialist in the K-12 Boston Public Schools and after-school technology programs such as Citizen Schools and CrossRoads for Kids. She maintains an educational technology blog at http://education.lkrdesign.com/blog and is a researcher and supporter of civic youth media.
