About Leslie Wilson
Ms. Wilson served US public education in seven school districts as executive director of curriculum and instruction, high school principal/ assistant principal, special education administrator/ teacher, and adventure-based counselor over a 31 year span. She was recruited to co-lead Michigan’s one-to-one teaching and learning initiative, Freedom to Learn (FTL), in 2003. She led the launch of the national not-for-profit One-to-One Institute (OTO), the next iteration of FTL, which is in its fourth year of operation. Since 2003, Ms. Wilson and her team have developed and implemented nation-wide policies, best practices and research around one-to-one teaching and learning.
One-to-One Institute extensively serves the US and emerging markets through strategic alliances. One-to-One Institute is the oversight enterprise for Project RED, a groundbreaking research project aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness and revenue positive effects of ubiquitous technology in schools.
As project co-author, Ms. Wilson is collecting, analyzing data points and developing the final research document. As co-chair of the National Steering Committee of One to One Directors, Ms. Wilson facilitates the network and collaboration among one to one practitioner leaders. She has extensively authored and presented around 21st century teaching/learning/leadership, one to one best practices and research. She serves on national and state committees aimed at transforming the education industry.
As an Education Policy/Program Fellow with the Institute for Educational Leadership, Ms. Wilson facilitated the creation of an advanced fellowship program for educational technology leaders in Michigan. She completed her doctoral coursework in education leadership at the University of Michigan. She holds a master’s in instructional technology from Wayne State University, a special education administrative endorsement from Eastern Michigan University and a bachelor of science in education from the University of Michigan. Ms. Wilson was a certified adventure based counselor through Project Adventure, an offshoot of Outward Bound.

About Bruce Friend
Bruce Friend is the Director of SAS® Curriculum Pathways®, an award-winning education resource that provides online lessons, engaging tools and activities at no cost to U.S. educators. He ensures the Curriculum Pathways program aligns with the SAS Institute’s vision for transforming education and helping students and teachers utilize technology for more engaging and successful teaching and learning experience.
Bruce has spent the past decade working in the field of online learning and digital content. He is a national pioneer in helping to establish the country’s first statewide online program and has been the chief administrator of two state virtual schools.
Prior to joining SAS, Bruce was the Vice President of the North American Council for Online Learning; a non-profit organization that provides support to students, parents, and online learning programs. Friend serves as a special advisor on educational technology issues for local and state leaders throughout the country as well as serving on advisory boards for several online learning programs. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Distance Learning Association serving in the role of Vice President.
Among Friend’s honors and distinctions: He was recognized for the “Most Outstanding Achievement by an Individual: K-12 Education” by the United States Distance Learning Association. Friend is a two-time recipient of the Florida Principal Achievement Award and was the Florida Virtual School Teacher of the Year.
He earned a M.Ed. in educational leadership from the University of Central Florida and a B.A. in Social Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

About the Event
HP, Intel, and our partners have joined forces with Tech & Learning to bring you the new 2010 HP & Intel Digital Learning Event Series.
These unique, interactive forums are one-day events held throughout the United States. Each Digital Learning Event is an immersive experience that provides K-12 decision-makers with state-of-the-art technology solutions delivered in hands-on learning environments.
For the Teaching and Learning Track, sessions were hosted in Math, Science, Language Arts and Professional Development. This unique classroom environment let attendees be students for the day and experience compelling standards-based learning moments through seamless technology and curriculum integration.
For the Technology Track, IT decision-makers attended to learn more about cloud computing solutions, wired and wireless networking, and asset and data security for district infrastructures. They had an elective time slot to attend one of the Teaching and Learning sessions.
At these Digital Learning Events, attendees learned how technology-rich environments enrich students’ learning experiences, change the way teachers engage their classes, and help them build sustainable technology programs.
